Uni Flame Large Cookset
Our large Uni Flame Cookset
We have since updated our review on the Uni Flame Large Cookset. You can read this updated post here.
We got the Uni Flame Large cookset a couple of years ago for our kitchen setup as it was so compact and fitted perfectly. Got sick of trying to pack not nearly the same amount of cookware before. The bag the set comes with is not great and wears down quickly, we replaced this with a Drifta canvas bag made to fit.
This is the cookset packed away in our kitchen drawer. If you would like to see our kitchen setup then click here.
This is how the cookset looks all packed up with the cover off.
The fry pan sits on top with everything else packed into the large saucepan. Then you have the colander, rice cooker, small saucepan, fry pan handle, rice cooker lid, small saucepan lid and then the large sauce pan lid all packed away on top of each other.
Now let us unpack it all and see exactly what you get:
Non stick fry pan with removable wooden handle
Rubber cap to protect pots from bolt on wooden handle when packed away
Colander with foldable handles
Small sauce pan with handles that fold out from the sides and lid with wooden handle
Large sauce pan with large foldable handle and lid with wooden handle
Rice cooker with large foldable handle and lid with wooden handle
Uni Flame netted bag – this has since been replaced by a Drifta canvas bag as per photos above.
The fry pan is quite small so if it is for more than 2 people it might be a struggle. If we need more cooking space we usually just use the camp oven lid. This non stick fry pan is perfect for frying up a couple of eggs or a quick stir fry. You just need to be careful with the fry pan and not use anything sharp around this – we have removed a few parts of the non stick coating unfortunately.
We use the colander all the time, for drying veggies or for a salad. The small sauce pan is used as our kettle mostly, so it is the most used part of this cookset. Everything else is functional, works well and is really well made – it is Japanese so it is extremely well made and a clever design for maximising storage space. The rice cooker is an added bonus and takes your camp meals to the next level. Easy to use.
Packed up it is just under 20cm high and only weighs a few kilos. The netted bag is ok and has lasted a while but this has now been replaced with a Drifta canvas bag – far better storage option for this cook set.
Sizes:
Fry pan – 22 × 5 cm
Large pot (5.5 litres) – 23 × 15 cm, stainless steel
Small pot (3.2 litres) – 17 × 9 cm, stainless steel
Rice cooker (3.2 litres) – 21 × 12 cm, aluminium
Colander – 21 × 11 cm, stainless steel
We have taken this set everywhere and it is amazing. Getting the right setup is all about maximising space and this does all of that and then some. It is not cheap by any means but we will use this for the rest of our camping lives, so for that exact reason it is completely worth it.
