By Far The Best Toaster for Your Camping Setup by Uniflame
The Uniflame camping toaster must be the best camping toaster you will ever find. If you have ever used any other brand of camping toaster you will know that they are flimsy, sometimes bulky, have issues with rust, and in most cases are of poor quality. In this post we review our Uniflame camping toaster after two years of use and explain why we believe this is the best camping toaster for your camp setup.
Uniflame Makes Top Quality Gear
Uniflame is a Japanese based company who manufacture quality lightweight and compact camping gear. We own a few other Uniflame products including our Uniflame large cookset (you can read our review here) and large campfire table. They are all the best quality, so well made, and will last us forever. With great quality products you can expect to pay top dollar but, in the end, it is worth it as you will be using this gear for decades to come.

It Will Never Rust
The Uniflame camping toaster is made from stainless steel so you will never have to worry about rust. Many of the other camping toasters, which are all cheaper, are usually made from steel and have issues with rust over time. Especially when you enjoy a beach camping trip which is highly likely when you live in a beautiful country like Australia that has the best camping spots in the world. All components of the Uniflame toaster are stainless steel, even the small wires that hold the toasting grill together are stainless steel.
Compact and Lightweight
Even though the Uniflame camping toaster is made from stainless steel it is still lightweight at just over 300 grams. The design of this toaster is fantastic as it folds away completely flat making it super easy to pack away. The toasting grill folds in half which then sits inside the toaster mesh, the sides then fold down, the handles then fold in locking it all together. When packed away it measures in at 200mm x 130mm x 19mm. Making the Uniflame camping toaster extremely compact and easy to pack away in your camp setup. Many other camping toasters can be rather bulky for a toaster so make sure you compare them in size when packed away.
Quick and Easy to Setup
The Uniflame camping toaster is extremely quick and easy to setup. Sometimes compact camping gear can be a bit tedious when having to setup. This is not an issue with the Uniflame camping toaster. In comparison, most other camping toasters are one piece so there is no setup. However, it is good to know that setting up the Uniflame camping toaster only takes a few seconds and you are ready to get toasting.
Extremely Strong Not Flimsy
Traditional camping toasters are notorious for being flimsy as well as being bulky. As the Uniflame camping toaster is made in Japan you can be confident that this camping toaster is extremely strong. Being made solely out of stainless steel, all components of this toaster are going to last the test of time.
Two Toasting Configurations
You can toast in two different configurations. The toasting grill can either sit at an angle, like an A frame, with your slices of bread sitting on either side. Or the toasting grill can lie horizontally. Either configuration will really depend on the type of gas burner you are using, the wind, and the desired toasting result. In most cases we use the toasting grill at an angle as we have found that works well when toasting slices of bread. You do have to turn the bread over to toast the other side which is the case with any type of camping toaster.
Can Toast Two Slices
Even though the Uniflame camping toaster packs away compactly. When setup it is big enough to toast two slices of bread or two halves of a hot cross bun. Most other camping toasters can only toast one slice of bread at a time. This does make breakfast quicker and easier to get ready while camping, especially if you have a few pieces of toast to make.
The Perfect Toast Every Time
The Uniflame camping toaster has a wire gauze on the base. This wire gauze helps to distribute the heat more evenly across the base of the toaster ensuring you get evenly toasted bread. In most instances the Uniflame toaster works perfectly, however in windier conditions when you don’t have a windbreak, the toasting distribution can be less even. When this does occur, it is just a matter of flipping the bread around to get a more even distribution. It takes about a minute on each side which will depend on how high you have your gas burner set.
Storage Bag from Drifta
For better storage of our Uniflame camping toaster we chose to purchase a Drifta bootliner bag that is made to size for this toaster. As the Uniflame toaster is stainless steel, we do prefer storing it in a bag to ensure the toaster and our other gear don’t get damaged. It does make packing that much easier as you don’t have to worry about damaging anything.
Quality Gear
Overall, the Uniflame camping toaster is top quality. We have not been disappointed with anything on this toaster. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, toast bread quickly and easily. The compact and lightweight design is a big plus as it is so simple to pack away. The design of the toaster is better than anything we have seen but we would not expect anything else from our mates over in Japan.
We would highly recommend this Uniflame camping toaster. You will not be disappointed at all. If you do decide to purchase one, we highly recommend you buy a Drifta bootliner bag as it does make packing that much easier. They are the most expensive toaster you will find at $45 but they are so well made you will still be using it in decades to come. We would not try and save a few dollars for a cheaper one as you will end up spending more in the long run. We purchased our Uniflame camping toaster from Drifta. would like to buy this Uniflame 2 slice toaster but you do not sell it apparently, nor can i find a link to anyone who does. i am over here in Canada, and would really like to have one for bicycle touring. didnt see it on Amazon anywhere, nor anywhere else, actually. any suggestions on where to source one?
