Double Island
Double Island as everyone calls it, but its full name is Double Island Point. It is a coastal headland in Queensland and it is the next headland north of Noosa and is within the Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park.
The point was named by Captain Cook when he passed it on 18 May 1770, “on account of its figure” (source Wikipedia).
This is a common camp spot for us, we venture out here at least 5 times a year as it is less than an hour drive for us to get onto the beach. If booking camping permits with Queensland National Parks the park name is Cooloola Recreation Area. We always camp on the beach – camping permits are in the Teewah Beach camping area.
